What new dads need to know to allay their worst fears about parenting
Kids & Teens September 26th, 2008The idea of being a father is known to fill many a men with dread and trepidation. The thought of having to care for a little whiny and noisy child can seem pretty unpleasant to them and they try their best to escape from having to handle this responsibility. But becoming a dad is a fact of life they are forced to face sooner or later. Many men can be selfish and hate the thought of having to share their wife’s affection and attention with a demanding baby. They try their best to enjoy life with the woman of their dreams for as long as possible before the inevitable happens. Once the wife makes up her mind to have a baby, there isn’t much the man can do to dissuade her. Many loving and caring men don’t want to risk alienating their wives by disagreeing with their wishes. The only thing left to do before the baby arrives is to get ready for sharing the workload of raising the baby.
There are a number of parenting skills that can come in handy when dealing with babies. One of the most important of these is patience. It doesn’t take much to flare up the temper of most men. It’s very easy to get tempted to do something horrible to the baby when it has been crying for a few hours straight and nothing you do seems to soothe it. In such cases, it is recommended to take deep breaths and calm yourself down. One of the best parenting tips to handle the drudgery of changing baby diapers is to laugh about it and remind you that this only needs to be done for a short time. Babies respond really well to a consistent routine so it is best to feed them and let them sleep at the same time everyday.
